RECENT EVENTS

3rd of December, 2011: The band opened its competition season with a comprehensive win in Grade 3 at the 2011 Daylesford Highand Gathering. The pipe corps won both piping elements and the band also took out the Street March. Congratulations also to our Drum Sergeant Erin Allenby, who in short time has brought our new drum corps up to highly competitive standard.

10th of April, 2011: The band finished the contest season with a solid win at the 2011 Ringwood Highland Gathering. The pipe corps again won the piping in both the MSR and Medley elements. That makes 3 wins out of 6 contests, with a 2nd and two 3rds. Thanks to the players and supporters who made our return to Grade 3 such a success.

27th of March, 2011:
The band competed at the 2011 Victorian Championships at Haileybury College. Overall we came 3rd - not the result we wanted, but the band still managed a 1st in medley ensemble and the pipe corps picked up two 1sts and two 3rds, averaging 2nd overall in the piping element. The band received numerous compliments on the quality of its performances and the high standard of its tone and tuning.

20th of March, 2011:
The band competed at the 2011 Geelong Highland Gathering at the new venue of the Geelong Showgrounds. Out of 5 bands, we came 3rd overall, with two 2nds in piping.

27th of February, 2011: The band competed at the 2011 University of Ballarat Pipe Band Contest, winning Grade 3. The pipe corps again won both elements with drum corps also doing very well.

12th of February, 2011:
The band won Grade 3 at the Berwick Highland Gathering, beating out 4 other bands for the top spot. The pipe corps won both elements with the drummers steadily improving and moving up the placings.

4th of December, 2010: The band competed in Grade 3 for the first time since the early '90s, being placed a creditable 2nd out of 5 bands at the Daylesford Highand Gathering. The pipe corps managed to endure the heat and humidity on the day to win the piping in both competition elements.

15th of November, 2010: In recognition of the band's Centenary and continued activity in the western suburbs, the band was awarded with the Hobsons Bay Certificate of Recognition by Lord Mayor Bill Tehen.

11th of April, 2010: The band won Grade 4 at the final competition of the 2009/2010 season, taking out 1st Place at the Ringwood Highland Gathering. This gave the band 6 wins in a row, a feat it hopes to build upon for the 2010/2011 season.

21st of March, 2010: The band celebrated its 5th win in a row, taking out Grade 4 at the Geelong Highland Gathering, held for the first time at Fyansford Common.

14th of March, 2010: Cementing its place as Victoria's premier Grade 4 band, the Williamstown R.S.L. Pipe Band took out first place at the 2010 Grade 4 Victorian State Pipe Band Championships.

21st of February, 2010: The band celebrated yet another comprehensive win, this time taking 1st place in Grade 4 at the 2010  Ballarat Royal South Street Competition.

13th of February, 2010: The band continued its winning streak with another 1st place in Grade 4, this time at the 2010 Berwick Highland Gathering. The drum corps took out 1st place in the march section with the band also winning the medley ensemble and both piping elements.

11th of November, 2009: The band provided entertainment at a Citizenship Ceremony at the Williamstown Town Hall. In honour of our Centenary, we were joined by the Mayor of Hobson's Bay and Hobson's Bay Councillors for an historic photo opportunity.

23rd of October, 2009:
More than 100 former and current members gathered at the Williamstown R.S.L Club to celebrate our Centenary and to pay tribute to the band's long and proud history. Guests included Life Members, former Drum Tutor Bruce Neal and Bob Semple BEM.

5th of December, 2009: In keeping with the band's resurgence over the last couple of years, the Williamstown R.S.L. Pipe Band took out 1st place in Grade 4 at the annual Daylesford Highland Gathering. A particulary enjoyable day for the band, both socially and competitively.
