WELCOME TO THE WILLIAMSTOWN R.S.L. PIPE BAND

Located in Melbourne, Victoria, the Williamstown R.S.L. Pipe Band is one of Australia's oldest and most successful pipe bands and has been in continuous operation since 1909.

The band is dedicated to the preservation of the arts of piping and drumming and performs both traditional and modern pipe band music.

Anyone is welcome to come along to practice, whether just to listen or learn an instrument. Expert tuition in piping and drumming is available to all.

If you already play the bagpipes or drums and are looking for a band to join, please come along to practice and have a listen. New members are always welcome.

The band wears the Red Robertson tartan.

CONTEST SEASON

The band has completed one of its most successful seasons to date, winning 6 out of 6 Grade 4 competitions over the 2009/2010 Victorian Highland Pipe Band Association contest season.

  • 2010 Berwick Highland Gathering - 1st Place, Grade 4
  • 2010 Ballarat Royal South Street Competition - 1st Place, Grade 4
  • 2010 Haileybury Victorian State Pipe Band Championships - 1st Place, Grade 4
  • 2010 Geelong Highland Gathering - 1st Place, Grade 4
  • 2010 Ringwood Higland Gathering - 1st Place, Grade 4
The thanks of the band goes to all of the pipers, drummers, tutors and supporters who made this possible. The band is looking forward to continued success and growth in 2011 and beyond.

WILLIAMSTOWN R.S.L.

The band proudly carries the name of the Williamstown R.S.L. This was the outcome of a successful affiliation between the band and the Williamstown R.S.L. Club in 1999. We gratefully acknowledged their continued sponsorship and support.

The Williamstown R.S.L. Club is a sub-branch of The Returned & Services League Of Australia,which was formed in 1916 as a means of ensuring the commemoration and well-being of serving and ex-service Defence Force members and their families.
